[DIALOGUE FROM THE FILM]

Psychiatrist: You deal with economics? Jan: No, I work in radio. I run a late night phone-in. Psychiatrist: Ah, it’s you. I thought I recognized your voice. Congratulations on the programme. I wanted to call a couple of times, myself. Jan: But I’m cracking, breaking down. Can you understand? I feel like an ashtray where everyone can dump all their problems and move on and I’m left with that dirt. And things stay as they were.

WANDA WERTENSTEIN, THE BURDEN OF THE NIGHT [BRZEMIĘ NOCY], ‘KINO’, 1980, NO. 12

‘The Moth’ differs from the monothematic mainstream of our recent cinema in its sensitivity to personal emotional problems. (…) The film tells about the impact of the media on the broadcaster rather than the consumer. People call the radio journalist Jan to talk about about their personal worries. (…) But how can someone who cannot manage his own life, heal the ailments of others? The question is directed to all those involved in public activity. (…) Roman Wilhelmi, playing the main role, is present in practically every scene. And he makes the film what it is. He has created a figure of larger than life dimensions.
