[DIALOGUE FROM THE FILM]

Witek: What, have you gone nuts? We’re going to Pyjas’s old folks. And wrap up the case. Janek: Nobody will ever find the killers. This is politics, mate. Open up your eyes! Witek: I’ll reveal the secret collaborators. You’ve heard it – the Interior want to sell them. Janek: But ‘Ketman’ won’t be among them. Take my word for it. Witek: But there’ll be an investigation. Janek: You believe in that? Shit, has anyone promised you that justice will prevail? Nobody needs this kind of truth

ERNEST BRYLL, WHAT’S THE GAME ABOUT? [JAKA JEST GRA?], ‘FILM’, 1996, NO. 7

In my opinion, this is one of the more interesting films about our present time, a surprising film. (…) The success of the film and its piercing message arise from an extraordinary combination of a story told with elegance and an attempt to touch upon the truth which in no way can be told with elegance.(…) What is documented here is a peculiar unity of thinking, behaviour, understanding and code of conduct between different generations of those who stand on the side of the murderers. All this vibrates with continuous life and continuously improves itself internally. (…). What was sinister, remains sinister.
