Bogusław Linda and Marek Kondrat created in ‘Pigs’ charismatic characters of 1990’s film heroes, by no means new to the cinema but absolutely original on Polish soil. (…) Pasikowski’s ‘Pigs’ launched a boom in the Polish cinema of the 1990’s in the genre of films featuring bandits, gangsters and police officers, for a specific type of stories and conventions, heroes, rules of conduct, use of language, the manner of describing Polish reality, creation of a new hierarchy of values and instilling in young viewers a novel, market-oriented ideology and morality. ‘Pigs’ became the best example of this boom.
